USG Black Radar Ceiling Tiles (Discontinued in Australia)

USG Black Radar ceiling tiles were previously specified on commercial projects across Australia where a factory-finished black mineral fibre tile was required. Due to changes in Knauf / USG’s local product range, Black Radar ceiling tiles are no longer supplied or supported in Australia.

Current Australian Alternative to USG Black Radar

For projects that previously specified USG Black Radar ceiling tiles, the closest current Australian equivalent in appearance, performance, and application is NCS Apex™ Black.

Technically speaking, the white and black tiles are nearly identical in performance. Both the black and white versions of the radar tile have nearly identical NRC and CAC ratings. However, understanding NRC and CRC ratings will be covered in a future article. Usg black radar tiles are available in 1200 x 600mm sizes. The black tiles however are only available in a square edge version, with no recess options available as yet. Black radar comes packaged in boxes of 8. Furthermore, for the environmentally conscious, the white tiles use 45% recycled content, where as the black tiles only use 25 – 34% recycled content.

Black radar ceiling panels are the most cost-effective black ceiling tile solution we offer. Budget is usually a major factor in ceiling installation. There are several factors that make this tile the king of cost effective black ceiling solutions. Firstly, the colour is applied in the factory. Henceforth, this saves both time and money on painting. Secondly, this black tile is an acoustic tile. Consequently, this can avoid the need for additional acoustic design elements. Finally, they simply cost less than its competitors offerings. In conclusion, its black, acoustic and well priced. That’s why it’s the number 1 black panel we install!
